    Question Offering free e-mail services

    Which is the best method to offer free e-mail services to a community's members?

    For example, I am developing a project to build an Internet portal for my former high school, and I want every member of the institution -including five thousand students- to have their own e-mail account under the site's domain, and be able to create them on demand from the site's pages.

    Which is the best method to achieve that in a PHP based system?

    What should I requesting to the hosting company?

    I belive I've read that HiveMail can do what you want (run like a HotMail or Yahoo Mail system), you'll want to make sure your host knows EXACTLY what you're going to be doing, and you'll also want to keep in mind that that e-mail usage will count on your bandwidht alotment with some hosts.

    Thank you mhalbrook for the post.

    Yes, hive mail seems to be a good program.

    It costs
    $130 --> without support
    $180 --> including support

    But has a lot of features. I think it could do the job.
    However I would like to have more alternatives.

    Check around on WebHostingTalk.com, I know alot of people bought up several licenses recently when they had an amazingly good sale on it and will sell them.
