fading BG how do i do it?
i was looking around the web and came across this background on this site LINK LINK it has a checkered looking background and towards the end the checkered look fades out... I like that and was wondering if anyone knew of a easy way to re-create that? THANX

well, if you look at their code, they use a background image for the body... http://www.rojawheels.com/media/bg.gif

2 grids -- one a 1x1 pixel grid, the other about a 6x6 pixel grid. Each grid pattern on its own layer. And the 1x1 grid is below the larger grid.
Add a Layer Mask to the top grid layer -- the 1x1. Run a Linear Gradient on the layer mask, and use the "Reflected" Style from the Options Bar.
And that should do it. [img]images/smilies/smile.gif[/img]

wow, thanx for the quick reply! is there a tutorial out there on making this image? not to say what you've said to do is wrong, but i'm not that good w/ fireworks yet. but, I'll try that and let you know how it comes out thanx!

Sorry MystaMax... i forgot you mentioned you were using Fireworks. The "Reflected" gradient style i mentioned is a Photoshop option.
Basically though, it's just a double linear gradient. The effect is that of a shaded pipe. Fireworks should also have this type of gradient style though i would think.
