How do I do this... (image effect)

I am interested to know how this effect is done... will it be that complicated to learn?

The effect is basically a combination of changing the _xscale and _x properties of the movieclip that holds each photo.

They've used either a function in combination with either setInterval or onEnterFrame to gradually increase and decrease the photo width.
