    Web Page Design weirdness

Thought I'd try bringing this up in a separate thread since the problem is still there.

All the pages in the Web Page Design forum have been loading incorrectly since the article box appeared.

Using IE6, the Web Page Design threads box loads fine but the sub-forum box is ALWAYS blank. Nothing can get that box to load.
    http://www.sitepointforums.com/forum....php?forumid=1

The sub-forum threads box ALWAYS comes up blank but appears with a refresh on these pages:

    HTML
    http://www.sitepointforums.com/forum...000&forumid=52

    CSS
    http://www.sitepointforums.com/forum...000&forumid=53

    Browser Issues
    http://www.sitepointforums.com/forum...ne=&forumid=86

    Accessibility Issues
    http://www.sitepointforums.com/forum...00&forumid=191

Using NN 7, neither of the forum boxes loads on the Web Page Forum page and the article box is cut off and there is no scrollbar (800 x 600).

Opera loads the pages but the article box is unreadable - superimposed text.

Hope you can fix this soon.

Still haven't been able to reproduce this problem, sorry I've tried it on all the systems I could and it seems to be working fine... I made some changes a week or so ago, and I hoped that it would fix it.

Is anybody else experiencing this same problem?

Perhaps it is due to a bug in Internet Explorer 6, before SP1. Does upgrading to SP1 fix the problem? Is there anybody here who has Internet Explorer 6, but hasn't updated it for a couple of years?

I get it if I have my favorites or history windows open, but it goes away when I close it to go to the full browser window. Win2K, IE 6 SP1 with all the other hotfixes installed. 1024x768 resolution.

    Thanks Dave,

I can now see the problem. I don't know what is causing it, but I can see it.

I'll see if I can come up with a workaround at some stage.

I knew I wasn't hallucinating!! I have all current patches and updates on IE 6. This happens to me even without the favorites or history menu open. Maybe it has to do with the resolution? I use 800 x 600 and Win ME, if that helps. BTW all other pages with article boxes work fine (but there is no left margin on the Website Review article box - the titles butt right against the main box).

Could it be the fact that the subforums are outside the form, and the posts for the actual forum are inside the form? A class problem with the form perhaps?

Just went to the JS forum for the first time. Same loading problem there too. Just wanted you to know. Are you making any progress??? It's really bugging me to have to do all those refreshes.

I think it's more an issue of screen real estate than browser. Try opening an IE window at 800x600, or at 1024x768 and opening the favorites bar.

I second that! I use 800 x 600 resolution and am getting quite frustrated with having to refresh page after page to get the threads or sub-forums to appear. Like it's not bad enough being on dial-up . . .

It happened to me once when a forum was linked to in a thread explaining the problem, lol, but never before or after that.

Well, it's still happening to me EVERY time I go to those pages. It has to do with screen resolution. It's OK at 1024 x 768 but my eyes can't handle that resolution. It's going on three weeks now and I'm getting pretty frustrated. PLEASE fix this, Tom.

*bump* Is this being worked on? Do you have any idea just WHEN this might get fixed? Does the lack of response imply that this glitch is here to stay.

This particular issue should now be fixed. However, there is a couple of other issues that still exist and I will want to correct these at some stage. They include:

    1. forumdisplay pages too wide for 800x600 display because of "forum jump" control, for example this page when viewed on 800x600 monitor.

    2. Some forumdisplay pages, the "related articles" section is longer than the content, for example this page.
