so far Goto has worked great for me. I have not used any banner ads or news paper media advertising. Has any one ever tried other media to get traffic?

Word of mouth- if people talk about your site to their friends, then you've got a very good chance of getting the friend's hits, as well. Or if you can get on tv, like some techtv show (I'm really starting to like that channel)

I like goto.com

To make people spread the word, your site must have some critical factors! Like SP's strategy!

An alternative to goto.com is ah-ha.com
I haven't try it, but it's kindda like goto.com
Dynasty Host LLC
1-866-307-HOST
http://dynastyhost.com - Hosting
http://resellerplan.com - Reselling

I would just stick with goto.com, it should provide you with all the traffic you need.

Just something that make SP sucess:
+ visitors' loyalty
+ an active and helpful community
+ great effort by advisors/developers/directors, all of them, spending their time to show that the community is a wonderful place to help each other.
Maybe more than that, I don't know.
But the most powerful one is visitors' loyalty!

Hey Gang,
The #1 way I've been able to draw traffic is through recriprocal network linking - though I realize this can be hard for e-commerce sites.
Perhaps my data is not that's good because my site is part of a very large and established network (ReallyBig.com). But I believe the same principles that apply to our network would apply for everyone.
Simply find other sites which compliment yours, but make sure the other sites don't duplicate the information you already have on your site. Reach an agreement to partner with these sites and form a network. And name it anything you wish.
Each member of the network has a network nav bar where visitors can link to other sites. And if you have problem finding other sites that you can network with - no problem!!! Just create your own! There's nothing wrong with you owning every site in your own network.
It's a great way to market yourself. For example, someone who is looking for free fonts on the net is likely building a web site. That considered, they'll soon be concerned with submitting their site to the search engines.
Well, bingo! Why not put the link right ther beside them as they are browsing through the fonts that puts the info they need right at their fingertips?
Plus:
- You increase your link popularity in a big way
- You can use the power of the network to collectivly sell banner advertising and barter with the big guns.
Anyway... ... I know that setting up a network takes a lot of time and it is work. But it is the best method I know.
Here is some related info.
