Jelsoft, makers of vBulletin, will be releasing a CMS.

I believe SitePoint had plans to release one, but they've been scrapped.

And there won't be. Sitepoint decided that making the SP CMS release-ready would drive up the cost of the product too much.

Yup -- there's dozens of free CMS products available anyway, and many more for less than $500 USD.

Any idea on the progress of Jelsoft in creating one? It would be nice to buy a CMS with vBulletin already hacked in

Any idea on the progress of Jelsoft creating a lean, slim, stable, version 3 of vbulletin within the near future? LOL. They are still stuck in second gear with vb. I wouldn't hold my breath...
