    Table Visbility

I am creating a "Technical Update" page which will basically contain a list of links for each date an update is made to the site. Below the list of links I will have a table to contain the selected day's various changes to the site etc.

Basically, when a user clicks on a date it would display the corresponding day's updates (basically text) in the table.

Kinda confusing maybe. Another route i'm willing to take is to have a table for example with 4 rows laid out like the below.

    Row 1: 01/01/2003
Row 2: Updates for 01/01/2003 include....blah blah blah
    Row 3: 02/01/2003
Row 4: Updates for 02/01/2003 include....blah blah blah

Row 2 and 4 are to be hidden until someone clicks on row 1 or row 3, then the cell with its information in will be displayed, then when they click on the date again, it dissapears again. The cells with the dates in would have to move back to their original position when one is closed, and move down when one is opened.

If anyone could help with this i'd appreciate it. I have re-read my post and believe the 2nd route would be the best bet.

Anyhow, if anyone can help it would help me greatly.

    Thanks.

What sort of site is it? And when you say updates, do you mean updates to say, the look and feel, or to the content contained? The latter would be simpler; the former not so much (if you wanted to do it automatically, that is).

Hm, sounds like you need some sort of tree script.

    http://www.hotscripts.com/JavaScript...igation/Trees/

That has some tree scripts for navigation purposes, which could probably be modified to meet your needs.

Thanks for your help. I'll go look at the tree menu's but i'm completley new to javascript so i'm sure i'd have problems with even modifying a script lol.

The updates would purley be content, not visual updates. Just text.

    Thanks.

In which case it'd be easier, I feel. Instead of simply updating the row of text (and overriding it) just insert a new row (i.e. keeping the old one) with a timestamp. When you do a call to pull it from the DB always pull the latest; then you could figure out the updates based on any timestamped content in the database which is older than the latest.

    If that makes sense

Of course, I am assuming you are using a DB...

lol no i'm not using a DB =)

Its just going to be a page where i'll manually enter text into a cell and add the date myself, then the main text is hidden by default, and when the user clicks on the date once, the text appears, expanding the table, and on a second click it dissapears, shrinking the table.

    Thanks though.

Bless you, my child. If you're unfamiliar with CSS, here's a few resources that might help you edit the above. Probably best to stick with colors & fonts, perhaps padding as well. If you know this stuff cold, go nuts.
