Logo Design Direction...
Hey Guys,
I own ActiveTuning and here is our current logo:
I would like to add some sort of symbolic logo, but not sure what to do. For some reason I'm having a mind blank, and not sure what general direction to start.
The company manufactures aftermarket performance and styling car parts. Our motto is "The Shape Of Performance".
What do you guys think? Any ideas?

However, im sure you dont want to hear that. I will try and give my input all the same.
The logos that always catch my eye are simple. Incorporate the name of the company/product into the design. The colours should go together well. (have a quick look here for some help choosing your colours]And it really shouldnt be too big.
A popular look that is about at the moment.. is very minimalist. This makes the logo look profeshional.
Hope that helps

Sleek, Sharp and Crisp, with the right use of colors at the right place..... asking for too much ? ,,, that's the way it is ! maybe try making some identifier to make it look catchy !

Nice article! Can't say I necessarily agree with the end result, but the process was fascinating and there are some REALLY good points in there.
Does anyone else know of any good articles on logo design in general? Especially modern trends and such?Dave Maxwell - Manage Your Site Team Leader

Alright, so here's a general idea I am starting with:
I have attached a PDF if anybody wants to play with it....If you need the font for the A, you can get it here:
http://www.1001fonts.com/font_details.html?font_id=249
I want to convey "Active" somehow in the logo....In that site you linked me to, I really like 6B, 6C, 6D, and 6F:
What do you guys think?

designmjr, the images isnt showing. As for your logo, maybe make it it metallic agressive as it is aftermarket tuning. Japenese symbols go well as logos. Maybe try that with a combination of the things you've already got.

Ahhh, I don't really like incorporating the Japanese sybmols into a logo...I think it's a little cliche

The use of your colors is good (I should know because I graduated in color-psychology), so is the font, but why not concider a simple version, just a few lines or strokes in a matching color as a symbol.
If for example, you are tuning cars, try to find something related to that. A wheel might also be cliche, but you could easely find something matching the idea of graphic representation of your firm, no?ThaVincy | redesigning your image

Good logos you got there! I think a good ol Japanese translation in small font under it would look cool.
Just a suggestion.

My suggestion is to keep with something that is going to be a symbolic of not literal representation of oyour company. It's one thing to follow trends for web design and another to do it for corporate indentities. It will pass in a few years and you would not want to be stuck with the taks of re-designing it all over again, or having something that is obviously dated by style.
If you specialize in car stero and performance parts, the best thing to do is look at what your competition is using and what your suppliers use as well. Find what works and what doesn't. Then sit down with pencil and paper and put a bunch of ideas, anything that comes to mind, that is related to what you just saw or what you associate with it.
I hope that helps you out a bit.

My suggestions would be to add a very simple graphic of a car related object to the left side. I think it would also look cool if you had a very vague wind or speed effect. The font is definitely demanding some velocity

For a graphic, I think you already have the beginning of something good with the arrows you are using in the P.A.T. graphic on your website. This could be used to convey the dynamic you want. A speedometer or guage cluster is probably the first visual element that combines both speed and shape. You might look to other areas of specialty on the car that you perform. Audio components, I belive was mentioned, but how about exhaust, engine, etc. Perhaps your logo itself could be a gauge cluster of smaller graphics for each area of specialty that your company focuses on.
Check out my site for a sample of a tuner logo I did at http://www.3rdcherry.com
Hope this helps!
