    databases and asp

    Hi guys

I would appreciate any info you could give me, I have had a wonder through the forums but can't seem to find a solution to my problem.

I have an access database on my web server, as it has sensitive info, I don't want anybody accessing it, I have set nt permissions on the folder it is in denying access to it except for one user ie: ntuser
I need to know how can I parse through the username and password for this user so that when people view the web site and perform searches etc, it doesn't return an error.

The error I keep getting at the moment is:

"workgroup file is missing or file is open exclusively by another user"

what is the workgroup file?? the database is not open by any other user

    thx in advance

    ck

If you want the website to be able to access it, then you'll need to give the IUSR_machinename account read/write access to the database and the directory it's stored in.

Not if only IUSR_machinename has read/write access to it. You don't have to put it in a directory that is web enabled. You can put it outside the webroot, but IUSR_machinename MUST have permissions to read/write the database and the directory it is stored in. IUSR_machinename is what is used by IIS to determine permissions and such. It can't be duped (AFAIK).
