Unable to install CoffeeScript on Mac OS X 10.8

I am following the tutorial, Jump Start CoffeeScript. I have installed Node Package Manager (v 1.2.18) and node.js (v0.10.5). I then installed Coffee-Script with the command, "npm install -g coffee-script". I have also included /usr/local/bin in my $PATH. Having completed this I wanted to verify my installation with coffee --help, but I received the error, "bash: coffee: command not found".

Shall I repeat this process, but use a tested and proven procedure that will guarantee results? I am using OS X 10.8.3. Maybe some more detailed installation instructions will help me to avoid the problem I have now.

    Thanks for your help,
    Francois

After many hours of trying various solutions, I eventually solved this problem by uninstalling Node Package Manager and Node.js. I then carefully followed the instructions in [URL="https://gist.github.com/Frobitz/3257794"].
After installing Homebrew, the command, brew doctor, is a tremendous help to identify various kinds of errors that could cause problems along the way.
    I hope this helps someone...
