I hopped on over to the local Target about 5:30 this morning to see if I could get one. Little did I know that there were people who were camping out and had been there since 10 pm Wednesday night! I was up towards the front though-- they had 37 of them, and I was number 39

But, I had a backup plan, involving Amazon.com. Amazon started selling "bundles" of them at 3 EST, and so, after running home from school (or speeding, in this case), I got on there, made a quick 1-click account, and about 2:55 started refreshing my browser every 10 seconds. It worked
I got one of the "Action" bundles, and as soon as I was done buying it, everything was sold out! In a one minute period, Amazon must have sold a huge number of these.

It should arrive in 3-7 days, they say, and I'll be looking foward to it.

Anyone have any other experiences about this that they want to share, or am I the only moron who tried to get one?

I heard about lines at all of the Best Buy, Target, and other stores in Dallas. Most stores new exactly how many they had, and they cut the line off after person 95 or whatever.

All the stores in my areas had taken deposits on them. So only those people got them. I will wait until January when the price drops.

I wouldn't doubt it...I saw some people camp out over night in their tents in the parking lots of shopping complexes on the night of 10/25/00, just so they'd be in line for a chance to buy one.

Justin - yes. Maybe you should try to sell it on eBay.

I got 6 playstation2, and i sit on them while i'm working on the computer. They are very comfortable, when you make a tower out of them you obtain a cool seat.
And next year i'll be buying 2 GameCubes to rest my feet on...

    Ahah.
More seriously, i can have a playstation2 very easily in my place. Although it's a very dull archaic place, if i have the equivalent of 800 or 900 US$, i can have one.
But i'll just wait... french market is always provided stuff later than Jpn & Usa.

I'll just wait until next spring when they drop the price to $200 or less. Right now I have my Playstation Games to keep me busy. Just started playing "Heart of Darkness" yesterday. Going to buy Parasite Eve II this weekend and getting about 4-6 games for the kids for XMAS.

    No one loses out.

Not that difficult to get one where I'm from (Singapore).

I'm thinking of getting one to act as my DVD player though...
