fluid web sites?

Hey everyone,


How do you make graphics fluid, I want to create a web page layout, with some boxes that are fluid, when dynamic code is placed into them their shaped can expand without distorting the box.

Does anyone have any resources I can check out so I can do this.

I used adobe image ready and fireworks mx to make my layouts.

Depends if you want to go with a standards site or 'orrible tables based one (unbiased view ). Since you're using image ready, you'll prolly want a tables based one, which leave only one question, which way dya want it to expand?

Can I ask what 'fluid' means? I'm only assuming that it has to do with images being designed to handle sites at multiple resolutions (like fluid, it fits the form of its container)

the tables on the left - shop online and specials
the specials box is able to contract and expand with different sized pictures - how do you do that?

set the tables to percentages? or use background images?

Actually, that's just automatically being done by the browser. Just don't set the table/table-cell width to anything, and it will stretch to accomodate the content, as it does with the different size images.

When you view a website, adjust the size of your browser window. If the site shrinks/expands to fit, then it's fluid.

Static = content hard-coded into the page

That's nothing to do with whether a site is fluid or not. A site can be fluid in design and have the content hard-coded into each page just as much as a site can be a fixed size and have the content pulled from a database.

I ment that the table is dynamicly resized it doesn't have set parameters also known as a static value.

This is actually quite important, I've met too many confused clients with confused oppinions of terms, often created by web-duh-signers that are a little confused on these terms themselves :-)
