mysql login OSX

help i have installed everything i thing and i just cant login i get a message it said:
Access denied for user: 'myk@localhost' (Using password: NO)

Have you used mysqladmin to set a root password yet?
If you have a root user try:

mysql -u root -p

[mykeylynx]

no how do you setup mysql so you can login as root i tryed that in the terminal and it gives errors

Thank you my fist time loging in on os x I draged the bin folder to the terminal and then i loged in using the following
% /usr/local/bin/
mysql -u root -p
now i must learn to use the grant command.
