I'm building a generic CMS system for my customers in MySQL/PHP on Apache to update their own sites.
I'd like each CMS to 'decide' its own config parameters based on an XML control document generated from a MySQL DB on a remote machine.
The config parameters can then be switched on or off by simply updating the database which then updates the XML. The config changes will then be operational the next time a given user starts his CMS.
I can write the necessary PHP/SQL/XML but would like advice on what method/s could be used to access the XML over HTTP (SOAP?). Could XSLT simply be used to generate PHP control constants for each CMS from the source XML?
This is probably a big ask - so I fully appreciate any help you may be able to provide me with.
