I got fed up with low download speeds on my 56k and I'm getting @Home, high speed internet service 100x faster than a normal connection. Incredibly fast, good price, and excellent for managing my web sites and browsing the web. Just wanted to know if anyone else has bought high-speed internet. Plus, it allows all of our computers to be online at once on the same line.

I decided to support them by placing their link on my web site... They will pay me for every individual to check to see if broadband internet is available in their area. Not a bad deal, eh?

Anyways, just wanted to open this discussion to get people talking about broadband internet solutions. What do you think of them?

As fas as 100x as fast well, I'm not sure you'll get that, but it is nice. Wouldn't go back. I grabbed a 30MB file in just under 10 minutes. I forget how long that would take with a 56K dialup, but I believe it is measured in years.

Sounds great, I'm really looking forward to it... And, with high-speed cable it is possible to get 100x faster. I had a link to check if it is available added to the top portion of our site to help others suffering with @#$$% and slow internet access.

A 30MB download on a 50K-52K connection usually takes around 2-3 hours. So far 10 minutes is really looking nice

I'm living in dorm so don't want to dig a big hole in the wall for wiring to my bedroom!
So just using DSL (more precise, ADSL)

    Download: 850Kbps (~100KBps)
    Upload: 100kbps (~12Kbps)

Some links to test the speed:

and this site has many tools for broadband:

    Great topic!
Also a site for fun commercials for broadband: http://www.adcritic.com

Anything else I want to share??! well, not now!

    Your line speed:

    1554.9 Kbps

    190.5 K bytes/sec

You guys @home have static IPs, right?
Mine is dynamic, and maybe hyperdynamic!
It basically goes through a transparent proxy, the proxy's IP change dynamically (sometime I see 4 times/hr)
and the real IP is also changed if I stay online for long (like over 24hr, I'm not sure)
