    Hi.
I'm currently developing a site that uses a database (access or mysql - haven't decided yet), and I have a question.

Wouldn't anyone be able to simply enter the name of the database and downloaded it?

Is there a way to block them out?

    Thanks.

MS access - yes. Access creates an *.MDB file that resides on the server, therefore can be easily downloaded if the location is known.

    MySQL - not sure.

mySQL databases aren't stored in a single file in your webspace, so it is much more secure than Access.
The only way to access the database is by issuing the mysql_connect commands in a PHP script, telnet or by actually running a command on the server.
    Hope that helps!
