Do search engine count a backlink inside javacript?

I found couple of answers, some say if search result able to cache the script and link, which means search engine able to follow the backlink. Others say no, because search engine cant execute the link inside javacript.

Anyone know the answer?

Use a text browser such as Lynx to examine your site, because most search engine spiders see your site much as Lynx would. If fancy features such as JavaScript, cookies, session IDs, frames, DHTML, or Flash keep you from seeing all of your site in a text browser, then search engine spiders may have trouble crawling your site.

Thank you. It is up to date article, although there is no direct answer for this question, but we can use Lynx to examine a site.

The answer is, to use a text browser and find out for yourself. I imagine it will depend to some extent on how the site is coded and the scripts used, so there will not be one definitive answer for all sites.
