I run a website selling wholesale soccer and volleyballs with custom logo. The target markets for my website are merchants selling sporting goods, companies sponsoring soccer & volleyball events, schools and other sporting organizations.

Can anybody guide me or make any suggestions about where I should spend my advertising dollars. Site is already listed with major search engines and directories including Yahoo.

    Any help will highly appreciated.

If you have money to spend, use GoTo.com and buy some keywords there that might increase your site's traffic. Or buy a vBulletin, where people can talk about the products and help create stickiness where people are more likely to buy.

I dont think that vbulletin is a way to go, buying some keywords on goto.com wont hurt, but you need to get in touch with distributers, not stores, but distributers, they are the middle men, which help small businesses get their products to a lot of shops. Going straight to merchants wont help you much, almost all merchants go through distributers, especially small shops.

I definitely go with goto.com and building a community is also a good idea, it will bring your visitors back more often

I dont thing that building a comunity will help him, he should spend his time getting in touch with distributers, these are the guys that will help him make money, he might also try searchign small business directories to find people who sell sports goods.

I think that building a community is outright stupid, the person is in the place to make money, building a community is a completely diffrent bussiness idea, and i dont see how it can help him sell anymore soccer balls, as he mentioned he want to sell to stores, not directly, so opening up forums, will just give competitors a chance to advertise products on it. Or he has monitor them closely which i dought he can do, it will also allow the competition to come in touch with the people who buy equiptment from him, and try to underprice him, either way he looses.

Just though of this, there are hundreds of small business directory sites, you should post your site in all of those, because small businesses often go there to find products that they are looking for.

Thanks for your input. Do you happen to know any good small business directories with lot of traffic. I want to focus on target markets such as soccer coaches for schools, website owners (selling soccer related equipment), business interested in promoting through soccer related events. Since the etailers can get their logo (site URL) printed on the balls these products can act as a promotional item for them. I am not targeting end consumers, my main goal is to reach b2b market.

I have already purchased keywords at goto.com. After realising that targeting soccer balls will not get me much traffic in united states. I am aiming for promotional products as a poistive suggestion to get people thinking.

Once again it is great to hear your valuable thoughts.
