A front-end dev turns software dev. Learning curve?

A very general question, I know but for reasons not relavant to this post I'm considering taking a job with a company that is primarily software focused. They work a lot in the 4th dimension development environment. So a lot of relation DB stuff. Some oracle, some SQL etc...

I fall pretty squarely in the front-end arena. I'm most at home with the associated languages and PHP with SQL DB. I know it's high dependent on the individual but generally speaking how steep of a learning curve would an fornt end type at least familiar with relational DB design and object oriented programing?

    Thanks.

if you are already familiar with php and sql, the learning curve will not be too steep at all
