Need Help With Good File Formats For Logos

A couple of my clients have requested that I make logos for them. This is fine, and they are very happy with the results.

My problem is this:

What formats are going to be best for them? I would like a file format that is widely accessible (i.e. - no design software required) and can be easily resized by the client to whatever size they need.

Logos were created in Illustrator. Fonts have been converted to outlines.

just convert the file into a regular image though like .gif or .png. Either that or just keep the logo in the illustrator format.

I think you missed my point. GIF and PNG do not scale well. AI format is great - but like I said I need a format that is easy for the clients. My clients generally do not own Illustrator - and thus could not manipulate it.

I'm not certain about this, but EPS and TIFF may be the answer?

I'd recommend saving the logo in a few files, so that your clients can have them on hand. IE- A GIF for web use, and then an EPS or something for print work.

you can't do that really. I just usually burn a CD for any client I design a logo for with a variety of sizes and formats.

I leave one version in Illustrator, one rasterized at high res in Photoshop, one in high res JPG and one web res JPG.

I also include several printed versions of their logo on white slicks.

Usually that is enough to keep them happy. If they want to "manipulate" graphics they will have to obviously buy something. If they want to use their logo and have someone else design business cards, banners or t-shirts then having all those formats will help them later on.
