I would say off hand subway .... it's just some bread and meat. Not deep fried or jammed full of preservatives ... although I prefer Taco Bell, whether it's healthy or not.

Taco Bell's Nacho Grande is the most caloric item in the fast food world.

Subway is probably one of the best for you... anything that isn't deep fried loses that potential to hurt you....

...fries are seeming even worse now with the recent link to cancer due to the high quantities of acrylamide, which is a believed carcinogenic. (Which is true for any potatoes cooked at a high temperature: baked potatoes, chips...)

I like the sandwiches they make at Publix, a southeast US grocery chain. They have a deli where you can get good subs (better than Subway and Blimpie: in my opinion, and less expensive: fact). Anyway, other grocery stores in other areas probably have similar deli offerings.

Aside from that, I almost never go to chain fast food places. A few blacks away there's a Mediterranean place and a "Grunge" restaurant that's reasonably priced and fresh. They are both fast, but there isn't thousands of them, so that's probably not what you meant.

I agree samsm! Publix has the best subs (aside from their tendency to drop 3 pounds of lettuce on my footlong, thus quadrupling the size of my sub!).

Publix does have the best subs...

McDonald's has the most unhealthy burgers, while Burger King has the most unhealthy fries.

Taco bell has some healthy items: Bean burrito is high in fiber and not too bad for calories
    Subway: whole low fat menu
Wendy's: baked potato, chili, salad (watch the dressing)
    Arby's: baked potato
    Chick-fil-a: salads, grilled sandwiches

You can eat healthy in most places if you want to. It's more of a lifestyle change than suddenly going to one new fast food stop and magically shedding the pounds.

I love Taco Bell's cheesy gordita crunch (limited time only)...

My brother did a science expirement to test the fat content of the big 3 burger places. McDonalds had the least amount of fat, BK was slightly higher, and Wendys was like 3x as much.
    (thats on the burgers).

Try the market fresh sandwiches at Arbys, they're really good and not all that bad for you.

I hate to burst your bubble, but the market fresh sandwiches have between 730 and 880 calories and 33 to 49 grams of fat.

Most subway meals are as unhealthy as any other fast food meal.

Subway is only healthier if you choose a certain meat, and choose a certain sauce, and don't have cheese. If you have, say, a chicken fillet sub with lettuce, mayo, cheese, tomato, etc, you'll put on as many pounds as if you had eaten a KFC burger.

When I'm talking unhealthy here, I'm going roughly on fat content. Hungry Jack's burgers (Australian version of Burger King) has the most fat content - nearly twice as much as McDonalds. It's probably different in Australia to other countries, however.

Thats not so bad. I get the roast beef one with no mustard, onions, or tomatos. So it has mayo, lettuce, cheese, and beef. Considering how large the sandwich is and everything. 700 or so calories for dinner (assuming you are having water or a diet drink) isn't too much.

Most of it isn't bad for you as long as you don't eat it every single day Once or twice a week would be fine unless you're on a totally strict diet or whatever

Well usually I have maybe 200 calories for breakfast, maybe 500 for lunch, and so add on 800 to that and its still under 2000.

yep, Subway can be very unhealthy, worse then all of them, depends on what you get.

when they claim to be healthy, that's only the six inch sub with NO cheese, mayo, or dressing.

I'll try and scan in some stuff tomorrow

We have Quizno's here -- don't know if it's healthy or not, but I don't think I'll ever go back to Subway.

I had a teacher that said pizza was the least unhealthy of the fast foods. I wonder if that's still true?

My favorites are subway and taco bell. Since the baby was born we eat fast food more often now.

    Is pizza fast food?

Well, there is a little Armenian-owned place around the corner from my house. They have some of the most delicious sandwiches and smoothies there. I have actually eaten filling meals with less than 500 calories complete and their cucumber, tomato sandwich is supposed to only have 2 grams of saturated fat.

True, but subway has the potential to be healthier. I usually order the better stuff when I go to Subway... and I don't put mayo and such on it because that's just not good to have too often. It's not where you eat, it's what you eat. McDonalds is serving salads now that aren't bad for you. (they are here, at least)...

That's not the whole game, though.

I have a Quizno's and a Subway right outside my work. Most of Quizno's stuff seems to be more fattening, unless you ask to have some things removed... but in general it's not all bad stuff.

Pizza certianly isn't a low-fat item.... but it's good. And because, depending on what you have on it, it can touch on all food groups... it can give you some necessary stuff.

There's a Harvey's next to the two sub chains outside, too. Now having a burger there isn't too bad compared to a sub... it's the addition of fries that can make it so much worse.

...They can all be bad for you, but most of them aren't that horrible. They key thing here isn't what, it's how much. Remember, moderation people.

Yes, you can't eat something every day and not expect to get fat.

    You guys watch your calories?

Pft. If I want to lose 10 pounds real quick I just have some Pringles with Olean™ and make a run for the bathroom.
