    DEFINATELY Chrono Trigger. You haven't played an RPG if you haven't played Chrono Trigger.

    Go for Final Fantasy Anthology, too. You get the classics

    I played the first Chrono game, but it was so long ago. I think it was on the SNES, right? What was it called? Can't remember. I need to play the others.

    I would agree with Xenogears. That was a fantabulous game. The last one I played was also great, FF9.

    Now I'm on the PS2 and playing FFX, but looking ahead...

    I've been wanting to purchase a good RPG and I'm looking for something like the Zelda games but for PS2. Are any of the games mentioned above like this? Something that isn't violent intensive or with sexual content.

    Chrono Trigger. Yes, it was for the SNES... but it's also been rereleased with Final Fantasy IV as Final Fantasy Chronicles for the PSone.

    If you're liking FFX, you might be interested in Final Fantasy X-2... the first legitimate "sequel" in the series, which follows Yuna as the main character after the events in X.

    Dark Cloud for the PS2 is pretty good.... it looks kinda like Zelda...heh.

    I'd also recommend Kingdom Hearts. If you're not a fan of Disney characters (i'm not really a fan, myself) but you can get over it... it's a pretty good game. Made by Disney and Squaresoft (makers of Final Fantasy)... lots of FF characters show up in this one. And you don't have to worry about sexual content here.

    ...there are other good ones, but i can't think of em right now.

    Well I might head up for EBWorld and buy Chrono Cross used then. I mean, I like FFX, but I still like the old style game play better for the previous Square games...

    I definitely prefer older FFs to the newer ones.

    I liked the tolkein world that you'll find in FF2, FF9, etc.

    My favorites of the series (in order) are FF2, FF7, FF3.

    The worst is of course FF8.

    Ha, I'd have to disagree...my favorites of the series, also in order, would have to be: FF10, FF8, FF9 and then FF6.

    Don't get me wrong, I like the older ones too... but I'm just more entertained by the new ones. I enjoy the cinematic experience.

    Or perhaps my imaginiation is just dead.

    Aludra is pretty good.
    In a world where the human mind
    can be programmed like a computer,
    at what point does the human soul end
    and the cybernetic machinery begin?

    FF8 was also released on PC... not that it matters... horrible game.

    I liked FF7 because of all the side quests, the game was just massive.

    Graphic wise though of course the newer ones will be better, but for pure gameplay I've gotta go with the list I made above.

    Supposedly they're going to be re-releasing the earliest ones with better graphics.

    let's clear this up:

    Final Fantasy was released for the NES.

    The real FF II was released in Japan but never in North America

    FF III was also never relased in NA.

    FFIV was released in North America as Final Fantasy II for the SNES. It now appears on Final Fantasy Chronicles (PSone) as it's original name: Final Fantasy IV.

    FFV was not released in North America until it appeared on PSone's Final Fantasy Anthology.

    FFVI was originally released as Final Fantasy III in North America, but re-released as Final Fantasy VI in Final Fantasy Anthology.

    FFVII was released everywhere under the same name for PSone and PC.

    FF: Tactics: Everywhere, PSone

    FFVIII everywhere: PSone, PC

    FFIX everywhere: PSone

    FFX everywhere: PS2

    FFXI is out in Japan for PS2

    Also noteworthy: Remakes of FFVII and FFVIII are supposedly being developed for PS2.

    Final Fantasy Origins for PlayStation, which features Final Fantasy I and II were just released in North America on the 8th. The games have been updated in graphics a bit.

    This is the first time that the real FFII has been released in English.

    There is also an FF game for Nintendo's GameCube in the works, as well as a new Final Fantasy Tactics for Game Boy Advance

    Wow. So since I'm in NA, I played

    FF -> NES
    FF2 -> SNES
    FF3 - >SNES
    FF7 ->PS
    FF8 ->PS
    FF9 -> PS
    FF10 -> en route, PS2

    So what that really means is I have played
    FF, FF4, FF6,FF7,FF8,FF9, and currently FF10?

    I can get the proper FF2 and 5 by buying Origins and Anthologies. I still cannot get 3 here in the states, right?

    That is correct.

    (At least not a real commercial version that's been translated by Squaresoft.)

    Darkcloud will never replace Zelda! Zelda is the best in the series.
