Please can someone help, my wordpress website <snip/> has been hacked,

Each page has a link now to a payday loan company!!

I doubt it. To me, it's a sign that someone has hacked your website and you need to follow the directions that fill the Web Security board here at SitePoint (I'll flag this to be moved to that board).

It seems to mysteriously be ok now. Can anyone tell if there's still malicious code there? Any pointers of protection/backup I should take? Cheers!!

Did you look for similar threads in this board? There is a long series of things which must be done. Be assured that you have been hacked and are likely sending thousands of SPAM e-mails per hour which will cause your host to terminate your account. If you can't find any "I've been hacked" threads in here, PM for the list of things to do to clear the malware code and safe your hosting account and its WP installation.
