    Advanced php books

    Hello

I was thinking of getting a book about php. I do know something about php so it mustn't be a beginners book. More about OO programming and learning about usort() and some wierd and complicated functions.

Should I maybe wait until php5 gets released?

Or do you know of any good books on advanced php?

    Thanks in advance.

hmm, xml, is that it? is it what I would go into on my next level of learning, is that the future?

I really don't know much about xml except that it is about storing text messages within html like tags that define what is what within the text or something

And anyhow, do you know when php5 will be released?

I haven't read it but I know one thing: Wrox is dead, so this is out of production unless someone picks up the rights to it.... Get it while you can

    Hello All:

I picked up the book Andrew listed, based on a recommendation from others on SitePoint. I respect their opinion; however, I did not find the book all that helpful (at least yet).

I did find a few good tips, and it certainly covered XML and PHP, but I did not find their object oriented programming chapters and appendix anything greater than some of the threads on SitePoint.

I admit I have not finished the book yet, because I had to put it down for awhile as I became frustrated with the poor writing skills of some of its authors.

As Andrew suggested, PHP 5 is around the corner. I think you can pre-order some books at Amazon.

    Best Regards,
    Sean
