    AOL browsers & javascript

    Hey guys,

Ok, I have a website that requires the user to run javascript in one section, so I have a script test the specs of the browser to see if they meet the requirements.

When I tested it, it all worked fine (on IE & Netscape). However, I got an email from a user saying they got an error saying they were running WebTV when they are actually running AOL 8.

So, how do I dectect AOL browsers and what other browsers are out there that I need to detect?

    Thanks,
    Carl
    Ohai!

AOL browsers are using the Gecko rendering engine. I'd assume if it worked in Netscape or Mozilla, it would work in the AOL browser...

Um, AOL is NOT using Gecko on PC yet...

I found this page useful. http://webmaster.info.aol.com/detection.html

Odd.. I've read someplaces that the AOL browser was based on the Gecko engine; at least I am sure they could be.

No. AOL/Windows is still based on IE. AOL8/Mac is based on Gecko, as is the most recent version of the Compuserve 2000 client.

Ah, thanks. Must've been a Mac I was using, then.
