    Hi all,

I was reading my e-mail today and I came across some things worth mentioning. Have you guys heard about people auctioning off their ICQ #'s for up to $150?

Would you PAY for a shorter ICQ #? I wouldn't... think about it: you could have all kinds of people from the past owner(s) messaging you, others would be tempted to hack it, and of course you'd lose some money.

Also, have a lot of AOL CDs? Don't throw them away, do something with them!

I wouldn't give up my ICQ number...

It has become like my phone number and is ME.

That is one of the most ridiculous ideas that have come along.....most of these 'greed generated' ideas only cater to users that are not savvy with the Internet and whom they hope to capitalize on their naivete. Now that selling domain names is on the decline, I'm not surprised that someone wants to make a buck with this!

The Internet is the one place where for pocket change you can create a site, try to make $$, don't make $$, close site, open another and start the $$ cycle again. Great opportunities, but you always have to watch your wallet when you are the consumer more than ever!

    What's next?

Humm.. not much different from domain names except you can't make money from it. Mine's 12 million. Is that any good?

Now you could eBay your collection of AOL CD's. Sure one or two aren't worth much, but if you have a few hundred the buyer would get ad-free internet access for life. That *is* if you consider AOL ad-free, BAH-HA-HA!

That is pretty crazy, but anything can happen on the Internet. I'm pretty happy with my UIN. Short and easy to remember: 45549000. How much do you think I could get for it? Nah, just kidding. But I do have over 50 AOL disks lying around...

I finally got my ICQ number memorized, and there is no way I would give it up either. I heard that people were selling the low number ones, but I couldn't figure out why. That's pretty laughable.

Well I wouldn't give up my ICQ number because I have a relatively early one. Also I memorized it long ago and probably would find it hard to memorize another one

Like most of you, I also have loads of AOL CDs lying around...up until now i have been using them as drink coasters.

Yeah, but I never see you on anymore. Or maybe you're being Mr. Invisible all the time.

I have TWO ICQ numbers, and both are memorized. Wouldn't be interested in getting another.

Hey guiys I think I beat you all.
My ICQ number is 7 digits long, and i think it is quite easy to remember.

As to AOL, I started using discarded CDs as drinks coasters a long long time ago.

This is all good and nice, but what if AOL merges the two IM services dropping ICQ (or AIM)? It's bound to happen one way or the other sometime...

Would you buy the UIN 1 ? i mean, the ICQ UIN number ONE ? That would be funny. Imagine giving your UIN on the phone: "My icq is 1" "One and then ?" "Nothing else, just 1".
If i had tons of bucks i'd buy this ONE.

When i was younger i thought one could melt Cd's and resell the metal... Then when i realized they were mostly plastic i played ball-trap with my friends. We took our guns (with plastic little bullets, don't worry), and shot them CD's. All i remember is that it was hard to aim at these when you had the light reflecting on the silver part.

By the way i like my icq number, 67438124. It has almost all the numbers. If only one of the 4 was a 5, it would be perfect.

That is so ridiculous. Who in their right mind would want to buy an ICQ number?!? Now if it was a single digit I could see that, but come on now...Who would sell a singal digit number? LOL!

    Money, my friend.

You think this ICQ number-selling is ridiculus? Have you seen some of the stuff auctioned on eBay? I seriously saw someone auctioning off the actual raft that Elian Gonzalez floated into America in. Now that's crazy.

Nope, you have to enter a credit card each time you use a free one. You can only use the credit card number once. They aren't THAT dumb (weeeellll maybe they are).

If there's a UIN I would buy, that would be #12345678. It's the easiest number to rember. And it's pretty cool. Meanwhile, I'm very happy with my UIN (15065610).
