I just signed up for this web-promotion package that allegedly will get my site listed in Yahoo. Now I am having second thoughts. Does anyone know about this promotion and whether is it reliable?

Don't bother. I'd recommend submitting yourself, manually, to the correct category, following all the rules, to

    YAHOO! CANADA

It's a proven tactic and it works for getting listed in a week or less (in most cases). Yahoo! Canada will automatically place any accepted listings into the main Yahoo! directory also, free. They get much less submissions and are much more lenient over there

An article I wrote about this recently is going to be published next week by ZZN (ZapZone) .com's email newsletter to their 400,000 members - this is not a "trick".

Waste of time, read the Yahoo guidelines and follow them to the letter. Examine the style of existing listings in the category you are targeting and stick to it.

If your site is at all commercial it may be worth the $199 Express submit option to try to get in quicker as the extra sales you make from Yahoo may cover the cost several times over.

Does submitting to Yahoo!Canada do the trick now? Since Yahoo using Google result instead of Inktomi

And to my experience, Google indexes sites quite fast

Yahoo has different results depending on if you click the WEB SITES option which is sites from Yahoo's directory; and the WEB PAGES option which is sites from Google.

Yes, most people think when the result is found in Yahoo! (even when it fetches from Google), it's in Yahoo

Yahoo is only a searchable directory! If you site is listed, then it will belong to a particular category.

Yeah, you are right about that! Google indexes sites almost bi-monthly. It also seems that they index most of the pages of my site. I now love Google. Since my site is not listed in Yahoo directory, at least I get about 1,000 unique hits from google.yahoo.com.

But of course, I still wish that my website was listed in Yahoo directory.
