    Problems with Windows Media File

I added a Windows Media file to a webpage for a client as a link to play in the stand-alone media player.

It is a .wmv file. My client says that neither he nor others can see the movie being played. Yet I can on my computer, a friends computer and even an internet cafe computer.

The webpage is http://www.feederleader.co.nz/ with the central image being the link to click.

The link I am using to the .wmv file is mms://www.feederleader.co.nz/flmovie.wmv

I have tried using a .wvx metafile but this just appears as text in my browsers.

    Can anyone help?

P.S. I didn't design the website - just added the movie and link.

did you ask your client what browser he/she uses, what mediaplayer version they have installed, what OS they're on, etc ?

Ha!, I ask questions like that and I get a very blank stare and the reply "I click my mouse thingy on the computer thingy and the thingy shows me the internet thingy..."

I was hoping that the method I was using would work on 90%+ of computers, assuming IE with Windoze Media Player 6.4+...

I'm using ie 6 sp1 with WMP 6.4 installed and it seems your server is not responding on time.

Probably that's the problem, have you check it?

I have always considered the Flash alternative but need to know of software that will convert .WMV files to .FLA - any suggestions.

    Follow-up:
Duh!, Flash MX allows you to import .wmv files, edit them and export them as .swf - how cool....
