How to create a logical URL

I want my clients to be able to add their business name, in the form that we instruct them, such as "marine-hotel". We will then give them a web address, a page constructed from the input that they posted. Lets say my site is www.mysite.com They will have a page
    that appears like this:
    www.mysite.com/my.php?C=marine-hotel
This we can do, but this address is confusing and isn't professional. We want something like:
    www.mysite.com/marine-hotel
    or
    www.mysite.com/marine-hotel.php

We have looked high and low and in other forums and so far the answer eludes us.

    It is possible?

    Many thanks,

If you're using apache, you probably want to look into the mod_rewrite module.

I've recently researched this so here's a few articles for you:

I've gone with a variation on the method of the first one btw.
