    MySQL and OSX installation difficulties

I'm running Mac OS 10.2.4 and have installed PHP (4.1.2) and MySQL (3.23.55-entropy.ch).

I'm having all sorts of problems trying to run mysql from the terminal. But mysql seems to be running because I can run phpmyadmin and access the sample mysql databases.

Can anyone help me out and give me some clues as to why I can't seem to get into mysql from the command line in the terminal?

If I go into terminal and enter,
    : cd /usr/local/bin
    : mysql

I get a "command not found" message.

I really need some help here. thanks in advance.

First off, the location of MySQL should be /usr/local/MySQL/bin not /usr/local/bin. From there you should be able to issue the "mysql test" command it have it work.
