Different hosts but using the same data centre - SEO Issues

    Hi all

I'm currently in the process of acquiring new hosting with another provider but they seem to use the same data center as my existing hosting company.
I'm wondering if this will cause any issues if I started linking my sites to one-another from these different hosting companies which are based in the same data center.

Is this an issue or will the site(s) be treating different under different name servers etc. ?

    Thanks, Barry

    Hi Berry,
May I know how you are going to link two sites like footer link, sidebar link ? My advice is to make it look natural, it should help your user.

No, it won't cause any serious issues.

In general, search engines will give less weight to links if they are between sites that the engine knows are connected. Typically, this means if the sites are run by the same person or company (as revealed by their GWM or AdSense accounts, for example).

I've heard people argue that sites hosted at the same hosting company will be considered connected. But there's no strong evidence for that. On the contrary, it's common for hundreds of sites to share their hosting, and it would be surprising if Google downgraded the value of their links just because of that.

But even if they did, the negative effect would be pretty small, compared to all the other factors that Google takes into account.

I suggest you don't worry about it. For what it's worth, I've got half a dozen or so sites all hosted by the same company on the same servers, and I'm not aware of any negative impact of any kind.

    Mike

    Cool Mike!

Ha exactly what I thought, I kind of realized this earlier even if I have different hosting company's everything is still tracked via my adsense and google account.
...between sites that the engine knows are connected. Typically, this means if the sites are run by the same person or company (as revealed by their GWM or AdSense accounts, for example).
I also link a couple of sites I own which are on the same server on the same account can't really see any issues with the sites I've linked, though kind of unavoidable if your hosting some of your own clients sites. I did read somewhere this was not to be done and didn't want to take to risk it. Just hoping not to get personalized and hopefully generate the strongest back-links possibly. Again, as you say Mike this shouldn't be a major concern I just needed to check, that second opinion
I've got half a dozen or so sites all hosted by the same company on the same servers, and I'm not aware of any negative impact of any kind.
And for the record reviewguy, I'm not trying to achieve a SEO trick or Blackhat as they call it - I just need extra space and a new host so I was trying to get a better understanding of the situation at hand before I signup and part with my money.

The majority of the links will be coming from legitimate content sitting inside layers of paragraphs and unique content, more like articles on a blog if you want.

    Thanks,
    Barry
