Review my games site plz...

After hundreds of redesigns, staff changes and names, I've settled on a few designs, at the present time I like this the most, please visit http://www.maxgames.org.uk (www.maxgames.net soon). I know a lot of content is missing, some files were corrupted, then uploaded straight on to the .net server, but I just want a general opinion of the design/sections. Incidently, if anyone wants to review for it, please e-mail me.

under the MAX GAMES part of the logo, the text is not readable on my machine.

the directory at the left is fine except that the text inside the gray oval is not readable - without effort.

seems to load a bit slow. but check with a review that has a 56k, on second thought, what speed would a game site be written for?

i do not know what the size of the spinning logo is but that might be a problem for your site.

The page scrolls over to the right...My screen is 800*600.

I am no expert but I have a few comments...

* Your .net address didnt work.
* The left navigation bar is unreadable, too dark.
* Your maxgames logo at the top is also too dark.
* You should be able to join the newsletter from the frontpage instead of getting a popup window.
* I would also decrease the size of the font you use.
* Review Index and Preview index both returned Page not found.
* Review and Preview of the month did not work.

The site loads quite fast and should be interesting for game addicts.

i found the site loaded quite slow on ISDN.. i noticed tha spinning logo was 89k, which is just far too big for a web graphic.. and the max games logo was also 30k which you could optimize down to below 10k.

as for layout, there doesnt seem to be any structure.

If you are serious about a gaming site then i suggest you take a look at PlanetQuake.com and see how they structure it.. im not suggesting you copy it, but just do some research.

You have a very nice menu bar, but the right column looks unorganized and the "The Ultimate Gaming Site" (or something like that) under your title image is not readable on my machine. PII 333, 128 Mb RAM, 1024 x 768. But you have VERY nice menu bar design.

I dont really like the navigation.
Its to dark. You might try to remedy that by adding mouseovers of making a whole new interface.

I think all the text on the front page is a little big too.
Make it smaller and more compact.

Make the text even with the top of the interface also.
do that by setting the main cell to align top.

Site could be big.
