    Hi,

I've been looking for the Microsoft Personal web server at the Microsoft site, but every time I was just to get it I was redirected to the IE5 page, so I couldn't find it.
If someone knows where I could find it or if there's another server like this, please let me know.

    Thanks!

    I suggest OmniHttpd (www.omnicron.ab.ca)
It is a really (stress really) easy to use server with a nice GUI. The newest version has built-in PHP4 and MySQL support. I use it and love it.

There should be a copy on your Win95/98 CD (but not if you have Win98 SE). Just do a search for "pws" and hopefully you'll find something...

I suggest using Apache. It's free, and not difficult to set up. The only problem I've encountered is that Apache and Internet Information Server handle cookies differently. You may also consider using the same server that your pages will end up on, so you can REALLY test them...

I think you're thinking of IIS Temis, which is what you need NT 4.0's option pack for. PWS is a mickey mouse windows server.

I thought you were referring to the NT server option pack. I've never used the NT Workstation one.

I've installed OmniHttpd on a W95 system and I can't manage to see the pages. I've tried to set the local server on the webeditor and there's no manner to see nothing . If any of you has the answer to my problem, please help me.

I installed OmniHttpd on Win98 and everything is fine...
What do you mean by webeditor ?
Try leaving the root-directory at its default place, and instead, look around your IP. Are you in a network ? My computer is in a network so it couldn't work with the default IP 127.0.0.1, i had to find my local network IP.
    Hope it helps you.

By the way, PWS seems to work only on Win95 and NT. Why the hell didn't they make it work with Win98 aswell ? Lazy coders.

    Shin,

PWS works perfectly on Win98 (first edition). I've got it running with MySQL,PHP,Perl. I've also got a mail server package (CommuniGatePro) running next to it. It all works perfectly!

(note: this is not a system for public webserving, this is just for my own testing purposes, because it does more or less all of the Server stuff: PHP,ASP,ODBC,Access,SQL,MySQL,Perl, etc. plus it deals with my SMTP stuff)

... what's the world coming to?

Thank you all for your help.

I didn't post a reply before because I couldn't find my message, I suppose it was because I didn't select "older messages" than 1 day in the menu .

Anyway, I have got the control of the OmniHTTPd and I can practise as much as I can...

    Bye!
