I need information on how to allow visitors to my web site to be able to download files from the site.
    Thanks,

Hey, all you got to do is to make a normal link to a file that you uploaded to allow others to download like this:

    <a href="game.exe">Download the game</a>

Hi Robin & welcome to the forum!!!

As Casear said, you simply point to the file. However, you may need to zip the file if the browser can display or execute the file. Some examples of files that need to be zipped before downloading: *.htm, *.html,*.gif, *.jpg, *.doc, *.xls, *.wav, and *.mid. If you do not have a zip program, I believe you can get one at http://www.shareware.com (WinZip, for example).
Also, if you use the search button (upper right), I'm sure you'll find a number of threads that have already discussed downloading files.

Another way to force download is with 'Shift+click' (press and hold Shift key then click the link). Sometimes my Netscape doesn't prompt me to save .zip files, but I can always download them using Shift+click. Perhaps you can add this info for users who have problem downloading.

Right-click the link and choose 'Save link as ..'
