    Interview Question

    Hi

In an interview today I was asked...

How does a style sheet define a URL?

    How would you have answered?

    Thanks

Humm, don't think that's the best way to ask that. Not very clear, is it?

It all depends how they define "define", I s'pose (I know I sound like a politician now! ;-). It could be interpreted as how to link to a style sheet, and it wasn't even language specific (CSS is only one style sheet language--though it may have been clear it was CSS at the time). But if I were to put something down, I'm guessing they're referring to the url() function, which is used all over the place in CSS: to reference images, in conjunction with @import to reference other style sheets, to bring in audio files for aural style sheets, and such. That's essentially how CSS "defines" url(), as in once it sees that, it knows its dealing with an external resource.

My answer to the interviewer would have been: "Can you please be a little more specific and elaborate more on that question since, it is rather open ended." other than that it would have been similar Ian's.
