What is the differnece between flush() and ob_flush()?

In know that the difference between ob_flush() and ob_end_flush() is that the latter turns off any future buffering on that page.

But what is the difference between flush() and ob_flush()? They seem like two identical functions with slightly different names.

    Thanks in advance.

I **think** the difference is, ob_flush() will output the current level of output buffering, and flush() will output anything...

    (I could be wrong though)
