Im looking to find a system where I can name a "block", then put in custom code, and it lets me include it with the like <-- blockname --> or something.
Is there anything like this around?

Hi guys..

Back with a question. What should one consider while purchasing a domain.

Are .com the best domain?

Which domain will give me most traffic?

Should I get a domain first and then the hosting? or Vice versa? or both together.

What problems can occcur with my own domain so I may be ready for them in advance.

I have been working with free hosting and domain till now.. so am not much informative about purchased ones.

Hello, A website that I have and uses an older version of SMF forum has been hacked. The hacker modified a *file* on my server. What does that mean? Do they have FTP, database and Cpanel passwords? Or they could accomplish such thing without gaining such access. Thank you

Scamming BIN

I had an auction up here (was also posted at Digital Point), it was for a webhosting company which sold at bin to this guy for $3,000.

He purchased it, I have a bunch of PM's about his wanting it, then when I talked to him I told him that I will send him all files in the morning after I have talked with paypal on the phone to verify that his account is legit and that there are no previous problems with the account, if there was I informed him that I would refund his money and reject the BIN. He then started to say how I was ripping him off and whatnot and filed an unauthorized payment through paypal. After which he gave me a negative itrader feedback. How can I get this removed as this is a joke... I checked his itrade after he purchased and it's just littered with scams about how he files chargebacks after he purchases.

Anyone have any suggestions? Is it possible for me to relist this auction or re-open this auction for free since the auction never really got BIN'd because the guy just did a chargeback?

I'm currently in the process of making a website, I'm not planning on it being that big this will all be made by myself mainly for experience.

One part of the website will allow people to upload appointment times etc. As my budget isn't all that huge I'll just be using shared hosting and I know that isn't all that reliable so if say someone has an appointment uploaded and the site goes down or there is any other fault in the site and because of this they miss the appointment.

If they wanted would they be able to sue me for any money they lost as a result of this? I was thinking of having something in the terms and conditions like they must not rely on the website and are advised to make copies of important appointments.

Also, where would I stand if the database got compromised. Obviously I'll take every precaution I can to ensure the security of the site but things can always happen. Should I be encrypting sensitive information such as times / dates / locations?

I just want to make sure I've got everything covered, since this is going to be a one man show a law suit could really hurt me financially and I've had little to no experience with legal issues apart from some research I've done on the internet.

Repointing a Domain Name

I have a client who has a domain name registered through Microsoft Office Live Small Business and now would like to use a different web hosting service. Does anyone know how to re-point the domain name DNS so that it points to the new web hosting servers DNS? Microsoft Live seems to tie the registered domain name to their web hosting service and doesn't allow you to go in and change the DNS settings like you can with other registrars. Thanks!

Auto width DIV problems

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to figure out a way to accomplish something that I would think is simple, but is turning out not to be.

I want a single DIV to set its width automatically to the content, and then nest a new DIV inside that with a BUNCH of content that will set its width to the same as the parent (which is to say, automatically to the less content of the parent).

Is this possible?

Example:

Headline

blah blah blah blah blah blah etc.

I don't know if nesting DIV's is necessarily the way to go, or if I might have to rely on some sort of Javascript to accomplish this.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Standalone IE6 version and conditional comment

I am using IE6 standalone version for testing on my computer server.
I am using this css in a stylesheet to display a div background image for one page only

This is unsupported by IE6 so I am using a conditional comment in the head section of the page.

This does not work either. However, if I remove the space between the E and 6 it works but this appears at the top of the page when viewed in the browser.

Wanted to get your suggestion, and comments about my situation. We have an auction listing for our business and all the sites associated with it.

We have invested a good amount of time, and investments in getting the site to where it is today. Unfortunately the site is not very profitable, but has potential to be very profitable.

Would you suggest to

A) Sell the site, and put it into the hands of someone who can make it work.

B) Gain a partner who will invest, which will help in setting a realistic marketing budget.

C) Gain a couple of partners with zero investment, but have experience in areas like "Marketing", "Source Code Development", "Sales" etc

All suggestions, comments, criticisms are welcome.

mySQL - Copy field into other field and more...

I have a table with stats from all of my users. I currently have a field which counts the total clicks per day each day. This field is called "clicks_today"

Now, what I ultimately want to do is copy that field into a field that I have just created called "clicks_yesterday." Based on the name of the field, I obviously want these clicks_today to be transferred once the day is up so I can get the clicks for yesterday.

I want this as a continuous cycle as each day passes clicks_today copies into clicks_yesterday.

I know I can base this information off of the time function but I'm not too sure how to go about it.
