Hey, I'm thinking of downloading Apache onto my PC (running on Win98 SE). The main reason I'm doing this is so that I can be familiar with the Apache software. I'll probably be working fairly extensively with it within a year or so (possibly on a unix server, not sure).
Anyway, I was wondering what sort of things Apache is capable of achieving on a PC, and what are the limitations on it?
To set it up, I would recommend http://www.firepages.com.au/bundle.php3#. It also installs php and mysql, and it is all, already configured. Very nice.
but do you think i'd learn more if i set it up myself?
PHP & MySQL would be really cool, seeing as they're what I really want to learn most (if I ever get the time :) ).. then i wouldn't have to upload everything to my host just to try it out :)
how much space does all this require.. if you dont mind me asking :)
A clean install of the package requires 6.63 megabites.
