I've trawled the web looking for a tutorial but to no avail. How on earth do sites produce that little line of links showing the route you have taken to a certain page?
home > products > product 1
Or are they just placed on every page as stanard HTML links? Surely its not that simple!!
It wouldn't be a history of links, it would be a category selection.
SOME sites may code the links in, but they'd be very stupid to do so.
More likely the pages are dynamically generated by a server side script, and that puts the links in order for the category.
More than likely this will be formed by the relationship of the items in a reltational database.
Just a few thoughts...
If you need any more info, or have any questions...
... go for it. ( ;) )
In case you weren't scared off by Flawless talking complete jargon at you...
What you are referring to is 'Breadcrumb navigation'.
There are also links to server-side options at the top of the article.
A good primer on breadcrumb navigation can also be found at evolve.org
Hope this helps.
me .... Jargon ... NEVER :p
