Anyone know of a program that will check for spelling errors in a large amount of files? I have almost 140 HTML files I want checked.

Yeah...
AceExpert will check the spelling of any document you have open at the time.
It will also check the syntax of your page.

Textpad will allow you to poen files as long as you have available memory. You can then spellcheck them all. It even has dictionaries available for multiple languages.

I have TextPad, but I doubt my old computer has enough memory to keep all those files open anyway. Even so, it might not recognize some of the HTML syntax. I am downloading AceExpert as we speak.

Dreamweaver checks one file at a time in the same way that MSWord will.

AceExpert is a great editor, but I will run into the same problem that I would if I used TextPad to check my site.
I am converting my site to Dreamweaver nowand since it doesn't check the whole site's spelling, I still need a program like that.
Come on folks! I know that a large number of you use Dreamweaver for your site. So how do you make sure that there are no spelling errors?

I use DW now too, but regardless of what I use i spell check every time before I publish a page.

Umm...
It was already stated that textpad works for this (which I will agree with).
Dreamweaver works for spellchecking, but it is limited in that regard.

This is an old thread but I will re-iterate my above post.
Not only does Textpad have great spellchecking capabilities but once you customize it to your liking it is a better HTML editor than most HTML editors on the market. Some of the HTML features include: Recognition of all 4.0 tags during spellchecking, color syntax highlight, and integration with your default browser and CSE HTML Validator.
Add to this the ability to create custom tag libraries, unlimited templates, unlimited file open capabilities, user definable syntax coloring for any file type, UNIX/MAC/PC file support. Search and Replace across files. Those and many other features make the program a good investment. The only thing it is missing is a WYSIWYG editor but since there is "no" formatting in text documents that feature is not needed in this program.
Oh.. I have easily had over 100 files open in Textpad on a Pentium-90 with 16 megabytes of RAM running Windows 95.

HTML Tools, a program that I reviewed a while back has a site-wide spell checker that you may want to check into.
As for memory, instead of trying to open 140 files all at once, why not do it in batches of 20 or something?
