I'm assuming filters = hacks?
Do we also assume CSS unrecognised by IE6 are also hacks? Or no? I should have asked first.
I was wondering that too: does the technique (star hack) count as a hack because it has the word "hack" in it? Can you make a quick list of what we can use :)?

I don't really mind what you use if you are trying for level 6 as long as the solution is interesting. However the winners of level 5 will be the ones that don't need hacks or alternative code to work in all browsers.
The solution that Erik and I have used is css at its basic level with no hacks needed and the same code is applied to all browsers including IE6. There are no advanced selectors needed and no code hidden from one browser or another.
The key to get this is to work out how to get the transparency in IE6 using the method I suggested in the clue I gave earlier.
Ok. Since I messed up and went crazy with the last one because I didn't read the instructions properly, I am in for this one. I will not be able to do anything till wednesday, but I definately going to give it a try. It is an interesting idea.

paul wants results that work in all browsers using the same css, i mean, all browsers should see all the css.
its not really hard, a little of geometry, and a little of reading certain websites.
although the transparency in IE6 does require a little clever trick.

I've got transparency in IE6 now, but the positioning is all off. I can't find a decent way to test in IE6 that works on Windows 7 though, so might be tomorrow until I can give it a go!

Fun. I just submitted. If #6 can ignore IE6, then I shot for that (I did use one CSS3 selector); otherwise, I guess I'll settle for getting to #3 :p I also tried to make it as slim as possible..

Just received another entry from Simon (zcorpan) that uses CSS transformations. It needs a bit of work but shows what's possible.

That's the one I'm searching for. I think I found one (only one that's not filter or JS or whatever) in a steaming pile of a certain someone's code (who always does neat tricks but always uses a huge steaming pile that's usually 90% unnecessary... crawling through it, I feel dirty). I'll have to see if I want to wade through the sewer or wait for Paul and Erik to release the knowledge in a clean and easy way for lazy s***s like me : )Quote:
