I have tried to submit my site multiple times in the past few days. I keep getting a invalid host name error at the last step. The spelling is correct, my hosting company tested domain to make sure yahoo was directed to proper ip. My only guess is that my domain has 28 characters and maybe Yahoo is not set up for the new longer domains yet. Anyone have some input?

When did they go to 28 characters? Does that include the extension?

It's up to over 60 characters. Click here for more details. And no, I do not think that your extension counts.

Extensions do count in the length of domain names, actually.
My guess is that (stupidly, nonetheless), Yahoo has a filter set up to filter for domains longer than x characters. If it sees a domain longer than that, it'll reject it.
E-mail them; they may be grateful that you found their mistake.

Just to let everyone know. I e-mailed Yahoo and they currently only accept domain with 26 characters.
-
Smitty, could you post a copy of this email you received?

Here is the email I recieved from Yahoo.
Hello Chris,
Thanks for your email to Yahoo! Site Support.
Although accepting more than 26 characters for a domain name feature is
not currently available in the Yahoo! Site software, we're always
looking for ways to improve our service, and we consider user feedback a
valuable resource.
We appreciate your feedback. We've forwarded your comments to our
development team for review.
Please let us know if you have further questions.
