I've recently launched my website, and I was hoping that some people here would have ideas to kickstart traffic...
I've already submitted to search engines and just playing the waiting game there. Also, I've begun trading links, but find it frustrating at times -- every promotion article I read talks about how reciprocal linking is golden. But most emails I get back say "Sorry, you need x amount of traffic before we even consider you".
Any tips and ideas are welcome...
Thanks in advance.

I didn't see that thread (set my browser to view newest topics).
Well, the good thing about your site is that it covers a wide subject and you can cover a lot of keywords with the different subcategories.
What you should do is to focus on each category for different keywords/phrases. Example is "html". "html tutorials" is a popular keyword (according to GoTo suggestion the most popular) and you should focus on that under the appropriate subcategory. You should build the meta tag and title around that single phrase. You should do this for every one of your keywords, the more the merrier. One potential problem with that in your pages is that you donīt have a lot of text to back your SE compatibility up.
One way to do it is though GoTo. As you have a wide selection of relatively popular keywords, you can buy the traffic from there. That could pull of off the ground, so to speak. The first initial traffic is the most difficult and sometimes the only way to break that barrier is to simply pay your way though. I think GoTo is a good choice for you. For example the phrase "free tutorial" gave 604 hits in July and you would get 5th place for $0,02. Find a few dozens more of these and you will get very cheep traffic. When the traffic picks up, you will get more links, thus better chances of good SE position ............... and so on.
If you're looking for an instant influx of new traffic, submit your site (very carefully, and returning their link on every page of your site) to TheFreeSite.com. It can mean 50-150 visitors a day in the beginning, over 1000 visitors when you're in their newsletter, and a good 25-50 users/day later on (when you leave "Newest Freebies"). A promotion method I use to jumpstart all of my new sites.
