Best HTML Editor ?

Going to get another one, wanted to know what everyone thinks is the best. Please don't say frontpage, it is not an HTML editor, it's kind of a page drawing tool.

I like HomeSite, and HTMLed, but want something more for less. . .

Out of the thousands of HTML editors and Text Editors out there the one that is the best is whatever product you feel most comfortable using. Its all a matter of preference. Try several different editors and see what you like. I personally use Textpad 4.0 but I know people who use WYSIWYG editors and are very happy with them. Try many different types until you find one or two products that satisfy you the best and work from there. Go to any Download site and you will find tons of different editors.

I endorse WebExpress 100%. I've tried FrontPage, and it adds too much junk to the code. Arachnophilia is too much like a text editor for a non-coder like me.

I'd have to say notepad but I dont have the time to hand code all my pages. I usually work with frontpage, dreamweaver 2, and notepad to clean things up some.

Poetfreak - Run, do not walk to http://austinstar.com/advertising/ and download a FREE copy of CoffeCup HTML editor. Try it for a week - you'll be hooked and amazed! I guarantee it. It's the easiest HTML editor on the market and BTW, the cheapest. Those coffecup guys don't fool around though. You get Java scripts, Forms designer, Font designers, html snippets, all kinds of GREAT stuff. And you get the full version for free! Just nag screens added in. Once you get used to using CoffeeCup, you won't go back to any other editor.

CoffeeCup? I don't it's a good HTML editor. In terms of hard coding HTML, I suggest NetObjects ScriptBuilder.

It provides formatting of code for Javascript, HTML, Perl, etc.. for easy reading.

Well for my money hotmetal pro is best.
It offer the best of both wysiwyg and hand code and it does'nt try to rewrite your code.

I would say Homesite is your best bet. It's not perfect but I've tried many and it's what I use.

A large part of your choice will be personal taste however. To each his (or her) own.

A new software company recently released their web editor at www.evrsoft.com.

It's one of the best free web editors hands down, I've used well over 45 editors from Textpad to Dreamweaver to Homesite to Coffeecup and I know what I'm talking about when i say this program's a winner. If you know any free html editor thats better or as good as this one plz let me know..

This is to thinklogic.

I use Textpad 4.0 for the express reason that it isn't a HTML Editor. I can customize it to act like a HTML Integrated Development Environment (IDE). Or it can act like a Visual C++ IDE. Or a PERL IDE. Or a JAVA IDE. You get the picture. I only use one program to develop for many different purposes. Pure Simple Power.

Cheap, very good, and does all those little jobs. Minds I use it along with several other tools like MapEdit32 and Frontpage.

HTML tool is pretty bad, its not worth its price and the damn nag dialog comes up every 5 minutes. Wouldn't recommend it.

I would have to agree with thinklogic. Matt I think you should review 1st page 2000. Just a few days ago it premiered on an Australian computer magazine and was a big hit.. well thats where i found my copy anywayz

HTML editor? Well, HTML editor is Aolpress. It's great, easy, WYSWYG,... I know, it's not really good for use scripts and some other things, but as HTML editor it's great. And better: for free!!

This is kinda late,but I read through all of the replies, and had never heard of 1st page so I went and downloaded it. And da*n that's good. 1st page is one of the best editors I have used ever. I like its simplicity in that I can do all my coding by hand,but troublsome tables and some actually good javascript can be inserted with a click. I'll be happy as long as I don't go javacrazy, we've all seen some of those pages. Anyways, give 1st page a try, you really will like it.

P.S. My personal favorite javascript was the password "selection", never have I had it so easy it creating password protected pages.

I know this is off topic, but I thought I should warn you. Password protected pages via Javascript are quite pointless to the above average user. By viewing the source code, it is quite easy to bypass them. If it is really important, I suggest a good CGI program.

lol, my bad,the specific project was for a family page. I'm not sure anyone would actually want to hack into it. but thanks anyways
