Does anyone know what's the percentage of PC's with the Webdings font installed in them? And if this font is widely used on other platforms ie. Unix, Linux, Mac.
I'll like to use some of the characters from this font instead of images to reduce hits on the server and speed up page loading, but I'm wondering how many people would be able to see them.
Is there any dings font that's widely used on every platform?
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Even if the percentage was pretty good, I would only use it if it were 100% for windows, mac, and linux users. I HIGHLY doubt that they all have that fon't. Just make it an image. I'm sure the image wouldn't be more then a few kb.

I second the opinion to make images out of them. If your that worried about hits on the server its time to either upgrade or move to a new host. Providing a few images won't even cause the processor usage to climb on a good system.

Thanks a lot for your feedback Justin and Wayne, I appreciate it.
I'll stick with images. It's not a matter of the web host being slow, is just that I get a little carried away at times http://www.SitePoint.com/forums/wink.gif
I'd agree with that....why even go there and take a risk? That's the beauty of image creaiton. http://www.SitePoint.com/forums/smile.gif
