I am not sure, but maybe your file is corrupt. You can install PWS off the Windows 98 Installation CD. I did (many times in fact) and it has worked flawless.
I doubt that's the answer, but you never know.

What version of PWS are you installing? Did you download the Windows NT Option Pack for Windows 95 from Microsoft?

I downloaded PWS from microsofts website and went to install it and came up with the error:
"Winsock2 required to install, PLease click OK"
So I got out and old ISP CD which had loads of little extra things on it as well as a Winsock2 upgrade, SO I installed the upgrade and still get the error!
can anyone help me
or where do I get Winsock2 from
PS:
I am running Windows95 and Internet Explorer 5
thanx

oh and it's version 4 that I downloaded,
+ I borrowed a friends windows 98 CD to install it but it said you NEED windows 98 and I only have 95 - I couldn't be bothered to go through the hassle on installing windows again

go to the Windows 95 download site at http://www.microsoft.com/windows95/downloads/
At the very bottom of the page are 2 updates for your Winsock. One is Winsock 2.0 and the other is a fix for a memory leak in the TCP/IP stack.
At the middle of the page are two dial-up networking updates. One adds new features and the other is a Y2K update.
You will need to install all four of these. You have to install them in order as well.

Winsock 2 Update

Winsock & TCP/IP Memory fix

DUN 1.3

DUN 1.3 Y2K fix.

All of these were released near the same time as Windows 98 so probably don't appear on to many old Windows 95 disks.
