reading 172 meg txt file
I accidentally sent an email to my clients that accidentally started an "autoreply war" on the server. I was able to turn off the autoresponders to stop the messages but I now have a 172 meg email file that I need to check to see if there is any real email messages in there. I attempted to load it in MS Word but it crashed after about 10 minutes of loading. Edit in DOS starts to load it but fails at 80% loaded. I can "type" the file in DOS but that doesn't help.
So my question is - is there any way that I can view this file? Can I split it up into chunks?
Any ideas are helpful :)
Try getting a text editor like UltraEdit. I've opened up 100MB files in it before...you just need that much RAM, or your computer will start swapping like crazy.
Is your computer also the mail server? If you have pop running, you can get a program that reads and outputs the email headers only, giving you information such as the subject, size, author, etc. Something like ERemove
You could always download it and then upload the txt on the web and view it threw IE.
