I'm having a slight problem with installing FastCGI to work with Ruby on Rails on my Windows XP machine (running Apache2). I followed the instructions provided at this site: http://dema.ruby.com.br/articles/200...he2-on-windows, and after doing these instructions, FastCGI worked great! The only problem is, suddenly I'm getting errors when I try to do anything with the MySQL database.
I'm sure others have ran into this problem. Any help, please?
Not to avoid answering your question, but do you have to run it with Apache2? Are you trying to mirror your production environment?
I find that Apache is a LOT of overhead for development purposes. Especially when using Mongrel is much, much easier, faster and lighter. It causes no impact on the code when moving to production (usually).
If you must use Apache2, what kinds of errors are you getting? Post one or two so we might get a better idea of the problem.
What type of errors are you getting?
On my development machine that is running windows xp I frequently receive "Lost connection to MySQL" errors when running under webbrick. PHP sites running off the apache server seem fine though.
(I don't bother putting my rails apps onto my apache server on this machine as I find it much more beneficial to put them up on a staging area of my production box)
