I want to make an idex page for my website.... My plans were to put
pictures covering the entire page... and have certain people and things
within the pictures be hotlinks..... I have cut out and saved the link
pictures and the surrounding area that each link picture came from....
but I cannot figure out what to use or how to get it to work..... I have
tried using page builder at Geocities.... but it wont let pictures
overlap at all.... I have tried using Adobe pagebuilder but it wont let
that happen either..... Do you have any suggestions? Or am I trying the
impossible? If I have been unclear please ask and I will try to
Get a copy of Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, or other graphics program. Select the parts of the photos you want to use using a 3-5 pixel feather. Cut and paste each into a separate layer, adjusting opacity to taste. Use the layers function to control overlap and position. Then do an image map for the hotspots. However, this will likey be a huge file and won't load very quickly. Save for web, using as much compression on the jpeg as possible. Good luck.
After you do what Joseph said I would suggest using Macromedia Fireworks to slice your image to save alot of time coding for the page.
Or you code put each image in its own layer and specifically place them where you want.. You can even overlap them using the z-index property of CSS
Internet Media Provider
I tried all of this and decide to use Fireworks instead of trying to make an image map which I have told is hard. But the file size goes from 32K as a JPEG to 684K as a PNG. Is there any way to make this file smaller?
Did you try to use CoffeeCup Image mapper++ http://www.coffeecup.com, You should, no need to cup the pics at all, just select a part of your pics and put a links, that it.
Ok... that Coffee cup thing works great... I think. I havent tried to upload it to my site yet... but i will cross my fingers
Thank You everyone for your help
