I have been talking to one of the support guys on Datex.net. They host nbc, hbo, yale college, and tons of other big sites/networks. Here is their deal:
1mbps (300 gigabytes of bandwidth)
Low level security
All for $950 monthly. Also for $2400, which they said is about to even drop more I can get:
Linux Red Hat
AMD Thunderbird Dual 1.4 GHZ
3x 36 Gigs SCSI Raid 5
2 Gigabytes of RAM
But right now I am a new reseller for Ventures Online (VO) and its very good, though I havn't gotten my friends to sign up yet... :bawling: :bawling: :bawling:
Does anyone have Co-Location with VO? I mean, I've been talking to the guy at Datex.net since July 1st and feel really confident with it. And possibly save some more money and stuff with Datex, but maybe I could get more from VO?
Please I need a response ASAP since I am currently at school. I'll be back to cheak in about 3 hours if not. Later
For $950/month, how much rack space does that inlcude?
does http://www.rackspace.com fit what you're looking for?
I love rackspace.com best managed/dedicated host you can find!
I don't mean to offend you, but do you really think you are ready for co-location? It has a lot of extra responsabilities, usually with co-lo you don't get any help with managing your server unless you pay more money per month. It also becomes your responsability if any hardware fails - you have to pay for the replacement etc.
Also you say you are a reseller at the moment, can your business support $950 of expenditure per month?
Well, I am ready for the Co-location. Yeah, I know what I have to do and crap.
I am getting more reseller people that are signing up. When my site was up we were on a dedicated Linux @ Verio. 30 gigs, 526 ram, and 1 GHZ. We used around 70 Gigabytes of Bandwidth a month.
But now we are hosting many sites and are making some deals with companys DIRRECRTLY like Nintendo, AT&T, companys like that. Not through a service like Value Click or Real Media.
Sites like RockXtreme. Which when was up, pulled about 30 Gigs of bandwidth a day. Since Linkin Park sponsored them through one of their small tours.
Also I'm having BZON, my site, based off PHP4 and MySQL so you have your own account/email/profile/ and message people currently on it. I'm learning on how vB works so good since I'm only beginnning PHP, the rest of my staff knows it.
I mean, Rackspace is pretty expensive. I mean, I also feel confident with Datex since they host huge networks and sites like NBC durring the elections people tried to hack in, ect. Also they do some of Blizzard's Gaming Servers which is alot: Starcraft, Diablo, and soon Warcraft III.
I'm not going to make much money from being a reseller. Anythig from $50 to $200 is nice spending cash or just having contests for my site.
So if there is a need of money: I have direct affiliation with major companys, other Advertising companys, and just some money from Reselling.
If I would choice Rackspace: Why and what are some prices? I mean Datex is making me my server with great hardware. Please respond ASAP. Thanks again
EDIT: I can hold up to 5 U-rack spaces... The small slim ones.
Heres what rackspace.com can offer you:
Red Hat Linux 7.1
Dual 1.2 GHZ Processor
2048 MB Memory
3x 36GIG SCSI HD
325 GIGS of BANDWIDTH
24/7 Server Administration
24/7/365 Tech Support
$1700 set up fee
Get on and talk with rackspace.com guys....they would probably match that $2400 quote. Also, for 400 more per month, you get all system administration and everything!
No No... :p
I hire someone to make a server there for $2400, right?
Then, I can ask if I can get a co-location deal since they already have the server there. So I could save $1000+ a month buy just waiting two months or so.
Mwhaha... profits are good ;) Do you get it or do I need to explain any further at all?
oh ok, I thought that it would be $2400/month for the server and bandwidth. I didnt know you would be purchasing the hardware.
